My Review

Why did I start reading the Bridgerton collection? Why not? I mean, I've read books like Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and The Cater Street Hangman. So, why not? I've also read several of my neighbor's romance novels. Whatever. I don't need to explain myself.

Okay, let me explain myself. I've written two books, both part of a series, and I've decided I want the third in the series, whenever I write it, to be a period piece. Jessica loves 19th-century British period pieces that focus on the aristocracy. That is her dominant genre. I think it will be fun to write one, because...

I really do enjoy these types of books. I'm a sucker for a good love story. There are plenty of times Jess and I watch a rom-com, and I find myself wiping my eyes dry while she laughs at the predictable plot. I guess I'm just that kind of girl.

The Bridgerton books are fun. I read the first three because I checked out one Kindle copy from the bookstore that included all three. Had to read 'em before my time expired. I've also seen the first three seasons with Jess, including Queen Charlotte. All of them were enjoyable. Great stories, decent friction between the leads, and nice happy endings.

And good research...yeah...good for research for book 3.

The Duke and I

Book one involved a man who happened to be a Duke. He never wanted to marry. He never wanted children. But he never thought he'd meet Daphne. And that's all you need to know, besides the fact that they fall madly in love. Sorry, not a plot twist. If I just ruined it for you, then you should stick to Sunday comics.

The Viscount Who Loved Me

Book two was similar to book 1 in many ways. The story revolved around a man who didn't want to get married. In this case, the girl also assumed she didn't want to get married. The couple's constant bickering was just enough to get them to overcome their fears and fall in love. End of story.

An Offer from a Gentleman

Huge twist here! The man wanted to get married... well, not at first, but you know... when he found her...I mean HER! The one. The girl that makes his heart skip a beat and spit out ill-formed sentences. But here's the twist...she didn't want him! Oh my God! Well, sort of. You know how it ends, but the trip there is slightly less obvious...unless you've watched Cinderella.
