2020 Kickoff & Resolutions

I typically ignore the mass adoption of new year's resolutions. Mostly because I know I'm not going to keep them. This year, however, I decided to give it a go and set a few. If I fail, I'll at least have some fodder for self-deprecation.

Resolution #1 - Write Daily

I truly enjoy writing and really need to do it more from a business development (content marketing) standpoint. My goal is to develop writing into a daily habit. I have my Marketpath blog and I occasionally write case studies and white papers. But I created this personal blog so I could simply write about anything when my business mind isn't hitting on all cylinders.

Resolution #2 - Exercise Daily

I did fairly well with regular exercise until last June. I kept having weird injuries that would stop me for a week or so, get better, and then something else would happen. Finally, I just stopped altogether to take it easy for a month or two. That was a bad idea. Ended up with a pinched nerve in my neck which reduced me to moaning mold of worthless jello for about 2 months. Perhaps the "break" did more harm than good. And perhaps the Beach Body Liift4 program was putting more strain on me than I needed. I really enjoyed those workouts.

A few weeks ago I graduated from physical therapy for my nerve issue (neck, shoulder, arm) and decided to take a different approach. I started yoga. I'm doing the Beach Body 3 Week Yoga Retreat to start. I need to get everything back in balance so I'm hoping this is a good approach. I am throwing a light run on the treadmill every couple of days and some dog walks because Archie's just a good boy.

Resolution #3 - Ready Daily

I already read a lot - news, social media, and sports (when I care). I also slow-read both business books and pleasure books (no, not those kind you perve). My goal is to read more business books during the day (30 minutes or so) and more pleasure reading in the evening. Eventually, I'd like to keep a book list on this site of those I've read. It will help me avoid getting halfway through a Jack Reacher novel before I realize I've read it already.

So, that's it. 3 fairly simpel resolutions for moving toward a better balanced mind, body, and spirit. Wish me luck.
